Federal University Gashua
The Federal University Gashua (FUG) is a federal government owned university established in 2013 by the former President of the federation, Goodluck Jonathan.
The primary objective of establishing the university was to provide quality education to the people of Yobe state and the country at large.
The university is located in Gashua town, one of the largest towns in Yobe, and it is about 140 kilometers from the state capital, Damaturu.
Federal University Gashua Admission Requirements
The Federal University Gashua offers admission to students seeking undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
To gain admission to the university for an undergraduate degree, students must meet the following requirements:
(i) Possess at least five credits in O’ level exams, including Mathematics and English Language.
(ii) Obtain a minimum of 180 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions And Matriculation Board (JAMB).
(iii) Participate in the Post-UTME screening exercise conducted by the university.
For postgraduate admissions, students must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, a minimum of 2.75 grade point average (GPA), and meet other requirements specified by the university.
Federal University Gashua School Fees
The Federal University Gashua has a relatively affordable fee structure compared to other universities in Nigeria.
The school fees for undergraduate students range between N42,000 to N52,000 per academic session, depending on the department of study.
Postgraduate students pay a higher amount than undergraduate students, ranging from N80,000 to N135,000 per academic session, depending on the course of study.
Federal University Gashua Hostel Accommodation
The Federal University Gashua provides hostel accommodations for students who wish to stay on campus.
The hostels are well-furnished and provide students with basic amenities such as water supply, electricity, and security.
The university has four male and female hostels for undergraduate students and additional hostels for postgraduate students.
The hostel fees are affordable, ranging from N10,000 to N25,000 per academic session, depending on the room’s category.
