Akwa Ibom State University school fees, admission requirements

Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) is a state-owned university located in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State in the southern part of Nigeria.

Established in 2010, AKSU has rapidly grown to become one of the most reputable universities in Nigeria due to its excellent academic programs and research activities.

The university is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and boasts of modern facilities that support learning and research activities. In this article, we will examine the school fees, admission requirements, and hostel process at AKSU.

AKSU School Fees

The cost of tuition in any university is often a significant factor in determining student enrollment.

At AKSU, the school fees vary based on the program of study and the level being considered.

Undergraduate programs are the most affordable, with fees ranging from N53,000 to N73,000 per session.

Postgraduate courses are more expensive, with fees ranging from N90,000 to N215,000 per session.

However, these figures do not include additional costs like accommodation, transport, feeding, and other miscellaneous expenses.

It is worth noting that the university management evaluates fees annually and can amend charges based on the economic situation of Nigeria.

Therefore, students should always check the university’s website or information desk for any updates on school fees.

AKSU Admission Requirements

The admission process is an essential aspect of college life, and prospective students must fulfill specific requirements to gain admission into AKSU.

Undergraduate students must have a minimum of five credits in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English, in their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), General Certificate of Education (GCE), and National Examination Council (NECO), or their equivalents.

Additionally, candidates must have sat for and passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organized by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Admission is offered to candidates with a minimum score of 180 in UTME.

Undergraduate students with Ordinary National Diploma (OND), National Diploma (ND), or Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates from recognized institutions can also gain direct entry into AKSU.

Postgraduate students, on the other hand, must possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field from a recognized university. Additionally, they may be required to present evidence of relevant professional experience and certifications.

AKSU Hostel and Accomodation

AKSU provides accommodation facilities for both undergraduate and graduate students.

The university has eight hostels, four for male students and four for female students, all within its campus.

The hostels are equipped with modern facilities like bed spaces, electricity, internet connectivity, adequate water supply, and security.

To secure accommodation in any of the hostels, students must go through a hostel application process.

After being offered admission into AKSU, students will be required to apply for hostel accommodation.

Students are advised to apply early to avoid disappointment, as there is limited space in the hostels.

Hostel application forms can be obtained from the hostel management office or online through the university website.

After completing the application process, students are assigned to a room and hostel based on availability and gender. The hostel fees vary from N20,000 to N30,000 per session, depending on the hostel and room type.
