Bauchi State University school fees, admission requirements

Bauchi State University (BASU) is one of the newest universities in Nigeria.

It was established in 2011 by the Bauchi State Government to provide tertiary education opportunities to the people of Bauchi State and beyond.

BASU offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various fields including Arts, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Law, Science, and Education.

Bauchi State University School Fees

Like every other university in Nigeria, BASU charges tuition and other fees for students to access its academic and non-academic services.

The school fees at BASU are relatively affordable compared to other universities in the country.

The fees vary depending on the course of study and the year of admission. For instance, the school fees for fresh students in the Faculty of Science and Education are as follows:

Indigenes – N32,500
Non-Indigenes – N62,500

– Faculty of Education

Indigenes – N28,500
Non-Indigenes – N58,500

Returning students pay slightly lower fees because they do not pay acceptance fees and other one-time fees charged at the point of entry.

The management of BASU allows students to pay their fees in installments or in full before the commencement of the academic session.

Students who choose to pay in installments are required to pay at least 60% of the total fees before registration, while the remaining 40% should be paid before the beginning of the second semester.

To be eligible for admission, prospective students must meet the following requirements:

– UTME Candidates:

Prospective students seeking admission into undergraduate programs at BASU must score at least 170 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

They must also possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including Mathematics and English Language, at not more than two (2) sittings in WASSCE, NECO, or GCE.

– Direct Entry Candidates:

Direct entry candidates must possess a minimum of two (2) A-level passes in relevant subjects or NCE with merit or credit passes.

They must also possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects at not more than two (2) sittings, including Mathematics and English Language.

– Postgraduate Candidates:

Candidates seeking admission into postgraduate programs at BASU must possess a first degree from a recognized university with a minimum of second class lower division or HND with a minimum of upper credit.

They must also possess relevant professional qualifications.

In addition to the above requirements, candidates must purchase the BASU post-UTME screening form and participate in the screening exercise.

Candidates who perform well in the screening exercise will be considered for admission based on merit and the available quota for each course of study.

Bauchi State University Hostel and Accomodation

BASU provides accommodation for students who may wish to live on campus. The university has several hostels, which are designed to accommodate male and female students separately.

The hostels are comfortable and spacious, with basic facilities such as bed, mattress, wardrobe, and reading table and chair provided for each student.

To be allocated accommodation in any of the hostels, students must apply through the university’s Student Affairs Division.

The application process involves the submission of a written request indicating the preferred hostel type and the level of study.

This request must be accompanied by the payment of a specified amount of money as hostel fees.

The allocation of hostel spaces is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, students who are interested in living on campus are advised to apply early as the hostel spaces are limited.

Upon allocation, students are required to sign a hostel agreement form, which stipulates the terms and conditions of living in the hostel.

Students are also expected to abide by the hostel rules and regulations to ensure a peaceful coexistence with other occupants.
