Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) is a renowned institution for higher learning in Nigeria.

The institution provides quality education to students while also pushing the frontiers of science and technology through research and innovation.

FUTO is located in Owerri and is one of the few universities of technology in Nigeria. The university was established in 1980 after the merger of the Federal colleges of Advanced Technical Education in Owerri, Kaduna, and Lagos.

FUTO offers various academic programs in engineering, sciences, management, and technology.

The institution has eleven faculties and several departments.

They include the Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Faculty of Biological Sciences,

Faculty of Physical Sciences, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Technology,

Faculty of Management Sciences, Faculty of Health Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Law, and the School of Postgraduate Studies.

Federal University of Technology, Owerri Admission Requirements

Students seeking admission at FUTO must meet specific requirements before they can be granted admission into any program.

Firstly, applicants must have a minimum of five credits in relevant subjects at O’Level, including Mathematics and English Language.

The university also requires applicants to possess a JAMB UTME score of at least 180 on the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

For postgraduate programs, applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of second class lower division from a recognized university.

They would also have to undertake FUTO’s postgraduate admission screening exercise, which often takes the form of an oral interview.

FUTO’s school fees vary by program and level of study.

For undergraduates, the fees range between N66,500 to N76,500 per academic session.

However, for postgraduate programs, the fees range from about N101,500 to N200,000, depending on the course of study.

FUTO provides hostel accommodation for students. The hostels are situated within the Institution’s premises and are designed to make students’ stay as comfortable as possible.

The hostels are equipped with essential amenities, including electricity, water, and security.

The fees for hostel accommodation vary depending on the type of accommodation the student selects.
