Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) is a government-owned higher institution located in Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.
The university was founded in 1971 and was formerly known as Rivers State College of Education until it was named after a renowned educationist, Reverend Father Ignatius Ajuru, in 2015.
Ignatius Ajuru University Admission Requirements
The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
To gain admission into any undergraduate program,
• candidates must have five credits in relevant subjects including Mathematics and English Language in not more than two sittings.
• Candidates seeking admission into the university via the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) must have a minimum score of 170.
• For postgraduate programs, candidates must possess a relevant first degree (minimum of Second Class Lower division) or its equivalent from any recognized university in the world.
• Prospective students may also be required to sit for an entrance examination, and a minimum score of 50% is required before an applicant can be considered for admission.
Ignatius Ajuru University School Fees
The school fees of the university vary depending on the faculty and program of study.
Currently, the school fees for fresh students in the education-based faculties (Faculty of Education and Faculty of Technical and Science Education) range between ₦60,000 to ₦80,000,
while the non-education-based faculties (Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Management Sciences) range between ₦80,000 to ₦100,000.
Returning students pay between ₦40,000 to ₦60,000 depending on the faculty and program of study.
Ignatius Ajuru University Hostel Accommodation
The university provides hostel accommodation for students, and there are various types of accommodation available, ranging from self-contained rooms to halls of residence.
The cost of accommodation ranges from ₦15,000 to ₦40,000 depending on the type of accommodation and the location of the hostel.
